Women Leading Columbus Luncheon

What an absolutely terrific example of how a small group of four or five people meeting to network can culminate to hosting a sell-out luncheon meeting with over 150! You simply had to be there to appreciate the energy, enthusiasm and excitement in each of the ladies present for the Women Leading Columbus’s event recently at the Depot. Judy Girard, the distinguished guest speaker captivated every single person in the room with her life stories of how the glass ceiling exists in corporate America’s, telecommunications and cable network businesses.

While the Greater Whiteville Chamber of Commerce was recognized for the event’s success, all credit would be more appropriately directed to the Women Leading Columbus themselves. Specifically, the group’s leader, Deborah Blythe, should be recognized for her hard work in bringing the group together and continuing the initiative created last year when they first started meeting. It was Lisa Richey, a member of the group and friend of Girard’s, who was the key connection to Girard’s appearance. A big thanks to each of the eighteen table sponsors for their beautiful table decorations and of course a huge round of applause to the Whiteville Woman’s Civic League for the delicious luncheon and desserts!
